A 52 Week Autobiography Through Music – Week 48 – Joe Henry

I trust I’ll be forgiven for posting this a day late given the fact that I have a 2 week old baby and a deserving wife to tend to. Joe Henry represents, for me, the best of the American songwriting tradition carried forward into the 21st century. He is an acute observer of the world and he translates what he sees into songs that not only bare witness to but also honor his subjects.

I speak of only 5 of his 13 albums in this video – the 5 I know and love the most but his whole catalogue is worth exploring. This is best I can do with a less than four minute introduction but if it helps to make you aware of this man’s music I’ll feel that this post has done its job.
