A 52 Week Autobiography Through Music – Week 21 – The Psychedelic Furs

The Psychedelic furs formed in London in 1977 and released their first record in 1980. This was a band that, like the Talking Heads helped bridge the gap between the Punk and New Wave eras. They started out as a 6 piece and by their third record they were a quartet and as you can see in the final image of the video they at some point became officially a trio that added musicians for their recordings and live shows as necessary.

As much as I listened to the first 2 records (I site them specifically in the video) I realize that it is Forever Now - Produced by Todd Rundgren, that is the album I am most likely to listen to now. Love My Way, the hit from the album is a great tune but the whole album is good from start to finish.

Again I am grateful to Tim for turning me on to their first record in 1981 as had my first exposure to them been the radio play of the Forever Now I might never have gone back and sought out the debut record and Talk Talk Talk which stand as 2 of the great British Post Punk releases.
